We would like to thank Mr. Jorn Kaae Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for his assistance and motiviation. He lied to the Better Business Bureau about who owned the resorts, claimed he was not with them, as well as being deceptinve to the state of Florida Department of Consumer Affiairs. Only an idiot would think that this site is ran by or affiliated with Occidental Hotels, which of course it is not.
If you are having reservations about staying at Occidental Hotels and Resorts this site will put your mind at ease and you will enjoy your stay somewhere other than at an Occidental or Allegro Resort.

On the dates of October 6, 2006 and October 11, 2006 we were guests at the Occidental Grand Flamingo Xcaret. We booked our reservation through Orbitz requesting a King bed and Non smoking room. We also confirmed this by sending the Hotel directly two emails as well as a phone call from the U.S to Mexico one week prior to our arrival.
When we arrived we were told there were no king rooms but that we could have a non smoking room. Disappointed but that was acceptable as we were very tired from the trip. Upon entrance to our “non smoking” room we found ashtrays and we thought that was strange. Then came the smoke at night that came through the walls from the other rooms. It was so strong that it was setting off the smoke alarms. We contacted the front desk and were told there were no non smoking rooms available. We later found out the resort was only 60% of capacity.
We spent the rest of our stay with the sliding glass door to our room open so we could breath as we are allergic to smoke.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS DIRTY DISGUSTING FLEE PIT A SO CALLED RESORT. We went in the middle of the summer (July 05) it was dirty with dead fish, wood, shoes, sea-weed, glass and just thing that looked like poo. we went just after the first hurricane there was signs up in the lobby telling us not to go onto the beach as debris is on there from the hurricane, 12 days later when we was going home there was still the same crap on the beach. The food was...... well how I can put this...... HORRID, SLOP, ALL THE SAME EVERY MORNING NOON AND NIGHT put it one way I would not eat this food, I think a starving person would turn this down!!!! Make sure you take plenty of money because you will be eating out more than you will be using the facilities you have paid for.
PS there is a Mc Donald’s about 5 min down the road!!!!!!!!
If you go to this hotel you will regret it so book wisely and don’t go to the Occidental Caribbean Village Cancun

If you think you could have a good time at this hotel, think again. My wife and I were there during the WILMA HURRICANE. The hotel manager took us to a shelter and he acted like a little HITLER. His EMPLOYEES acted as if they had all guest as peons. We were threatened with expulsion from the shelter etc. Occidental took NO RESPONSIBILITY for the way it's employees (especially the manager) acted. Occidental refused re-inbursement for the trip because of an ACT OF GOD. GOD DID NOT cause the conditions to exist, man did. The Hotel did, Occidental did. I had NO FEAR of the hurricane, I had fear of being gassed to death by a generator or being thrown out into the hurricane. Bill Baade 4570 E. Yale Denver colorado ---. our room was basic and shabby.. An old carpet which was dirty. The shower was poor and the window only opened 7 inches. Fluorescent lighting was on the wall of our room. The restaurants were poor and needing refurbed. We arrived at 7pm at night and left the next day at noon. It did cost us $524 to move but no way could we have stayed here. The only thing this hotel has going for it is location and beach. The outside swim up bar was dirty and shabby. No way would I have used the pool. The outside disco/theatre had huge holes in the roof.. The hotel had a reek of food cooking throughout. This needs to be demolished. If you have booked change it immediately..Occidental Caribbean Village Cancun

This building needs to be torn down to make room for a nice place. This place was much worse than any Motel 6 I ever saw, and a whole lot more expensive. It was just gross. Mold that caused horrible allergic reactions for the entire stay. No staff member was willing to help or offer another room. The food made me physically ill a few hours after eating my first meal there. I ate the rest of my meals at restaurants outside the hotel...so the all inclusive part was wasted. Listen to the bad reviews. This place ruined my vacation! Occidental Caribbean Village Cancun

Our hotel room was wet and damp all the time.
The hotel was leaking at was never fixed.
Water came through the roofs and was never seen too.
The walls were damp so they just painted over them.
The food is horrible and the same rubbish everyday.
The beach was ok but was never cleaned while we were there.
The staff are friendly at the bars and activity desk but no where else.
Its definatly not worth going to this hotel.
I wish i would have stayed at home!!!
I WARN YOU DO NOT GO! Occidental Caribbean Village Cancun

"Please listen to the bad reviews. I didn't and I still regret it."
I am a travel agent and stayed on agent discount rates with Occidental in the Cancun area for 6 nights beginning Sept. 9. The first 3 nights were spent at the Occidental Grand Flamenco Xcaret; and I can't say enough about how great this property was, despite being under construction from hurricane Emily. On the 4th day we took a cab from Xcaret to Cancun (for $60) to check in at the Caribbean Village. Xcaret didn't really have much of a beach, so that's why we split our trip up. We thought we'd have the best of both worlds.
Well it was a rude awakening to see (and smell) the moldy dilapidated room after living in luxury for the last three days. The paint was peeling off the walls, the sheets and blankets were wet, seriously. I couldn't make this stuff up. The window was open slightly and would not shut completely, letting in all kinds of noise from the pool directly below. We called the front desk repeatedly for a change of rooms and they just kept saying they would check on it and get back to us...they never did.
We decided to go check out the beach, and it was beautiful, but it's Cancun, the beach is beautiful everywhere there. We had some drinks and later went to dinner at the buffet which was, to put it politely, unappetizing. But we were starving after playing in the surf all day. So we went out to some shops around the hotel and then headed in for some sleep.
This is when it got bad. I woke up about two hours after finally falling asleep, to the sounds of drunkards at the disco by the pool through the open window, in a cold damp bed with diarrhea from whatever I ate at the buffet. I spent a while in the disgusting bathroom and decided I'd had enough.
At 3am I walked out into the street of Cancun with my friend, two lone women in our pajamas, looking for a hotel. We went next door to the Aqua Fiesta Americana, which was absolutely beautiful at $400 a night. We kept walking and one more door down was the Sheraton Towers. The gave us a room at $95 a night and it was heavenly. Not all inclusive but who cares. There was La Isla shopping center right across the street and they had a number of reasonably priced restaurants, as well as a couple in the hotel that weren't too bad.
I have yet to receive a refund for my two unused nights or the safe deposit (they make you pay to use the safe in your room!) They said they would refund my money, but I am really starting to doubt it.
Don't stay here unless you are one of those people who drinks until you pass out...that's the only way I can see anyone being able to sleep there. And everyone in the lobby, buffet, bar and out on the beach was the fraternity binge drinker type...so go figure.
I thought maybe the people who wrote the bad reviews about the hotel might just be too picky, but do yourself a favor and don't make the same mistake I made, listen to us. This place [---] bad.

"Management lacking"
We were dissapointed with the resort. There is nothing fancy about it at all. The beach was nice. We agreed to attend a promotional sales tour [90 min.] in exchange for V.I.P. members previleges[no checkin - wet bar in room - snacks and fruit in room- prefered seating and reservations in resteurants-plus other special treatment] What a ripoff! We sat in a corner for 30 min. checking in, Then she handed us the keys walked away leaving us there trying to figure out where our rooms were. The one set of keys didn't work, couldn't get into room. Our wet bar was 6 cans of warm soda on the table. We could only get into there resteurant once, it was always "sorry, they,re full the other evenings". NEVER attend there sales tour in exchange for anything. The workers at the resort were very good but I would rate the front desk and management terrible.

"waste of money"
If you are looking for worry free Vacation, don't go here.
I worked a second job all summer to have a worry free vacation, I am sad to say that Air Canada and Occidental Grand Flamenco Puerto Plata wrecked that dream for me. It was full of flight delays, and problems. The Hotel was supposed to be a 4.5 star wasn’t even a 3 star. Our toilet was broken the first day that we got there and we were there for 7 days. We called the front desk every day to try and have it fixed, when we left 7 days later it was still broken. The beds were badly soiled, the curtains were torn and to small for the window. Our TV didn’t work (phoned about that too!). There was a window in your shower, but the thing was is there was no glass just some wooden slats that you could see through and people that were walking by could see in. The bath room door was the same you could see right through it. They are no alarm clocks in the rooms so you had to phone the front desk for a wake up call, good luck. They didn’t give us are wake up call so we missed one of our tours. It took 4 days fighting with the hotel to get our $100 back. The food made everyone running for the bathroom, and with are toilet broke it worked well. The only plus to this hotel was its big pool, but was full of debris. I would never stay here again. Nor will this great group of people I met while I was down there. Occidental Grand Flamenco

Well, first of all the place was DIRTY!!!!!!! I went with a group of 125+ for a wedding (thank God the actual wedding wasn't on premises). All of us stay 5+ days, most 7. My first room was not only filthy, but the toilet was broken, calling for any assistance resulted in waiting over 2 hours. When they finally fixed it and I could leave my room, I realized that the sliding door (on the ground floor) did not lock. Switching my room resulting in yet another wait of 2 hours, after having to speak to a 'manager' to allow me to do this. First fours hours WASTED! Only one key to the room is given, regardless of amount of people in room. The food is marginal at best. There was not bartender at the pool swim up bar the entire stay. We had to hurl ourselves onto the bar just to reach the taps ourselves. The beach was way too crowded with annoying locals attempting to sell you the same junk every 5 minutes (or less). Pretending you were asleep didn't work because they would just stand over you. All if us had tried to be polite, but the locals would not take no for an answer, arguing with us. For example, the fact that we were Americans we should support their families (too many sob stories to count). Lots of children, which would not be that big of a deal if there was organized activities for them. One of the gentleman in our group had $ stolen for his room (hidden inside the sock drawer). The 'safes' at the desk are not only expensive, a few others (not in our group) had told stories of getting a hard time if they attempted to access it more than once during their stay. None of the women in our group felt safe walking around the grounds by ourselves. I also would not bother going if you do not speak fluent Spanish, which you will need to get a drink at any of the bars in less than 10 minutes because the bartenders are chatting with others. Tipping well did not help the service. By the way, tipping is stated (when we booked) as optional, but if you are already booked, bring a lot of 5's, a single dollar or two is not an acceptable tip regardless of the service. The staff makes this very well known. Do yourself a favor, an book somewhere else, the idea of an nice and relaxing all inclusive resort is lost here with all of the stress Occidental Grand Flamenco

"Would never recommend it"
Very very disappointed in the place. It was far from being a 4 star hotel, and even the staff admitted that it wasn't. Had to upgrade myself to the Royal Club to get a desent service and room. Even with that, we found a cochroach in the room. The entertainement was terrible. You couldn't understand what the animators were saying half the time. The people there don't know how to speak English very well which is surprising seeing that 90% of their clients are english speaking. The waiters did not know how to do their jobs, it was as if they were hired off the street and there you go, with no training. The beach was ever so dirty. I have never seen a beach so dark and full of dirt everywhere. Another guest told us that they found a needle on the beach while taking a walk. Even with that, they keep the very nice area called "First Club" seperate, and you can't even book for that even if you wanted. You have to be a member, which is like time-shares. Costs approx. $15,000. Of course that area was beautiful and the rooms were great, but hey there was almost no one staying there. I feel that it was false advertising to say that it was a 4 star hotel. Apparently that was like 3 years ago. NEVER EVER GO THERE. Occidental Grand Flamenco
